Graduate Pilot Champions aid VA cadets

Graduate Pilot Champions

Cambridge-based VA Airline Training (VA) are using ‘Graduate Pilot Champions’ to help its Airline Pilot Standards (APS) MCC graduate pilots secure job opportunities.

VA’s Managing Director Anthony Petteford and Head of Customer Engagement, Karen Bath – will act as ‘Graduate Pilot Champions’. Anthony and Karen between them have over 44-years of combined experience in airline pilot training senior leadership and innovation. They also have significant records of successfully securing airline cadet programme contracts and employment opportunities for graduate cadets.

The duo’s motivation is to ensure VA’s APS MCC graduates similarly benefit from their airline relationships.  VA already supplies Ryanair and Titan Airways with cadet pilots.

Furthermore, VA plans to recruit a dedicated Graduate Pilot Placement Coordinator to provide a single point of expertise and support. Their primary focus will be to advise and link VA graduates to the potential airline opportunities.

Anthony Petteford, Managing Director of VA said: “Our unique strength lies in our ability to build and maintain strong partnerships and strong service relationships with all our customers.”

VA said its APS MCC graduates had achieved employment with 20 different airlines throughout Europe.

Already recognised for its APS MCC training, as the first ATO in the UK to gain approval to deliver the APS MCC (on both the B737NG and the A320 types), VA is confident that their invested approach to competency-based training is just what the airlines need:

“We will not graduate a pilot with an APS MCC certificate unless we believe they are fully competent,” Petteford added. “Our airline partners can be assured that by selecting a VA APS MCC Pilot Graduate, they are selecting a pilot who we can confidently state really is AirlineReady for their pilot selection process and onwards into Type Rating training.”
